What is Physical Therapy?
As per the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA):
Physical Therapists (PTs) are highly-educated, licensed health care professionals who can help patients reduce pain and improve or restore mobility - in many cases without expensive surgery and often reducing the need for long-term use of prescription medications and their side effects.
Physical therapists can teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

At Connectivity, Pediatric Physical Therapy treatments are one to one and I use a hands-on treatment approach facilitating and inhibiting movement patterns following the principles of the Neuro-Developmental Treatment approach for which I am certified. Sessions are adapted to meet the needs of the child in that moment. Children have a multitude of physical, emotional, sensorial, and behavioral needs and I strive to find a balance of their needs in order to create an environment that allows for growth and development.
I work to facilitate movement patterns, improve gross motor function, improve proprioceptive awareness, improve motor planning and coordination, and improve communication between the right and left sides of the brain to optimize the child’s overall function.

Pediatric Physical Therapy can address a multitude of pediatric diagnoses and challenges, including, but not limited to:
When working with the pediatric population, the family’s involvement is so important. I work with the family to create a treatment plan to meet their needs and I provide education to the family to carry-over the treatment throughout their daily routine.
Physical Therapy for Adults
Adult Physical Therapy treatments at Connectivity are one-on-one sessions that focus on manual therapy techniques, such as joint mobilizations, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, visceral manipulation, and stretching, performance of strengthening exercises with hands-on feedback, neuromuscular re-education, balance, coordination, and overall function.
I want to get you back to your optimal level of function so that you can enjoy your life!
Boutique Therapy is a term that describes how Connectivity operates. You will find our treatments are private, one-on-one sessions with a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy. The patient will be closely monitored throughout the session with hands-on manual therapy and instructed and educated to correctly perform strengthening exercises, body mechanics, functional movement patterns, postural correction, home exercise programs, and more. As your therapist, I will be with you throughout your entire session. You will not be left alone in the corner to perform your exercises. You will not be monitored by an aide or assistant.
You will be my #1 priority when you are being treated and I will encourage and motivate you to be successful in your recovery.

Manual Therapy and Stretching
Have you dreamed of having someone stretch your body for an hour? Release all the muscle tightness you don't have time to stretch yourself? Stretching is an integral part of keeping your body healthy. It improves range of motion and mobility and allows for a decrease in joint stiffness and pain. PT guided and assisted stretching allows the application of full range of motion movements to your body, while your spine is in a safe and supported position, to allow for gentle myofascial lengthening. Together, we will be able to gently move your body into positions that break through the hard fascial barriers that you might not be possible to achieve on your own. Often, body pain is a result of muscular and postural imbalances. With a hands on evaluation, this type of body work can determine which muscles are tight or weak, how to accomplish the most appropriate lengthening and strengthening of muscles to allow for increased mobility, decreased pain, and optimal function and quality of life for the patient.
Physical Therapy is beneficial for conditions such as:

"It is almost impossible to explain the collapsing feeling of back pain, at any level. I spent a majority of my life in constant pain and discomfort. My condition was one where surgery was inevitable. Dr. Hines was my rock through it all. She not only gave me the maximum relief before we decided that surgery was my only course of action, but also prepped me physically and, more importantly, mentally for the spinal fusion that I had earlier this year. Dr. Hines was there for me to get me through some very painful moments in my life, and, now that I have had a successful surgery, she is still there to work with me and give me the best chance of feeling pain free and positive. I could not have gotten to such a better place without her." - J.A.
“Jackie worked with our daughter who has unique needs. Jackie was able to engage her in therapy that was fun and allowed Cameron to feel amazing not different. Our daughter still considers Jackie a friend and it’s been 2 years since she was in therapy.” - K.W.
“Jackie’s energy, professionalism and knowledge allowed our son Logan to reach milestones and exceed the expectations of his genetic syndrome. We are forever grateful that she was part of our family's journey and wouldn’t be where we are today without her. We love you Jackie!“ - J.W.
